New prints at Trowbridge Museum

Doodlicious at Trowbridge Museum

I had the loveliest meeting with Andrea at Trowbridge Museum last Thursday — honestly, her positivity is downright contagious! I left buzzing with ideas and feeling wonderfully upbeat about the next steps for Doodlicious.

Even better: Andrea has very kindly agreed to sell some of my larger framed prints. She’s picked a beautiful selection, and when we popped in on Saturday to drop off more smaller prints, there they were — standing proud on the stand, looking absolutely splendid. I was so pleased to see them looking so good; it felt like a little victory dance!

What do you think? I’m such a happy bunny right now, and I really hope a bit of this cheerfulness rubs off on you too.

ST JAMES’ CHURCH, TROWBRIDGE

St James’ Church, Church Street, Trowbridge

Hello again — Last year I was wandering past St James’ and couldn’t help but stop and stare. There’s something about that church tucked in the centre of Trowbridge that always makes me breathe a little easier. When the town’s humming around it, the church still feels like a secret pocket of calm, and I wanted to capture that hush.

I couldn’t resist doodling every little corner of it. I spent ages building layer upon layer of tiny lines and cheeky shading — the kind of drawing that tests your patience and makes you squint at your own decision-making. Honestly, it pushed me right up against my limits in the best way. I love drawing, but every time a shape this complicated appears, I end up both cursing a bit and grinning like a fool by the end.

I’m really happy with how this one turned out. It feels familiar and a little nostalgic, and I’m itching to get some prints made so people who know St James’ can spot those small, recognisable details — the sort that spark a memory or a smile. Wouldn’t it be lovely if someone saw it and thought, “Oh yes — that’s where I once played hide and seek” or “That window reminds me of my Gran’s wedding”?

So — your thoughts? And where should my pen and tablet wander next? Another time-worn gem of Trowbridge, or something totally unexpected that makes people tilt their heads and laugh? A little surprise tempts me.

Happy New Year

Spitfire dedicated to Trowbridge ©DoodliciousArt

I know I’ve been a bit lax — it was Christmas, December was hectic, and I honestly spent the break relaxing. BUT that doesn’t mean I was idle. Pop over to the gallery to see the latest drawings:

  • A celebration of Trowbridge’s connection to the Spitfire — swooping lines and local pride.

  • A cosy nod to our long-standing link with Nestlé — nostalgia with a twist.

  • For those a little further afield, a tribute to the iconic Corsham peacock — flamboyant feathers and all.

Have a peruse and tell me which you’d like to see as a print, for the next show or available online. Please paste the paragraph you'd like edited, and I'll make it engaging and correct the punctuation.

A Heartfelt Thank You from Doodlicious 💛

A huge thank you to everyone who attended the Christmas market.

Reflections on a Wonderful Christmas Market at the Trowbridge Civic Centre

What an incredible weekend! I’m still buzzing with gratitude after such a positive and uplifting experience at the Christmas Market at the Civic Centre in Trowbridge. Doodlicious had an amazing time, and I just wanted to take a moment to say a huge thank you to everyone who stopped by.

Whether you wandered over out of curiosity, picked up a greetings card or print, shared a story about Trowbridge, or simply offered a smile and a kind word — thank you. The atmosphere was full of warmth and community spirit, and it truly meant the world to see so many people connecting with the artwork and celebrating the town together.

Doodlicious began as a spur-of-the-moment project back in September, and to feel such genuine encouragement from the public so soon is both humbling and exciting. Your positivity has made me even more determined to keep growing this little adventure into something unique and meaningful.

And don’t worry…
I promise I’ll have plenty more TrowVegas signs next time! 😄

I can’t wait to see you all again at the Weavers Market on the 13th of December. If you’re in town, come say hello — I’d love to see some familiar faces and meet even more of you.

Thank you again, Trowbridge. You made this weekend truly special.

Doodlicious 🎨💫

New street sign art with a fun twist

Red Hat Lane, Trowbridge

Trowbridge has some of the quirkiest and most charming street names you’ll ever come across. In fact, it was the wonderfully odd street name art that truly inspired me to start this whole creative venture. I recall an artist in York who crafted an unforgettable image of the infamous Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma Gate. That brilliant piece sparked the idea to celebrate Trowbridge’s delightfully unusual street names. One name that has always intrigued me personally is “Red Hat Lane,” affectionately known as “the twitchell” by my family and me. It’s a minor, otherwise overlooked but convenient little lane in Trowbridge—here’s my quirky take on bringing this hidden gem to life through art.
